Smouha events, Alexandria, 16 August 2013 — Friday of Anger

About this record

The source page attributes an account of events in Smouha, Alexandria, on 16 August 2013 to Saad al-Ghitani. The text says it distinguishes personal observation from later news and other people’s accounts, describes demonstrations and danger around Ali ibn Abi Talib Mosque, and calls for an independent investigation into responsibility for deaths and injuries. However, the published page contains explicit editorial placeholders asking for the witness’s arrival time, precise location, observations of gunfire and details of those injured. These missing sections prevent the text from being treated as a finished eyewitness statement. Any English edition must disclose the incompleteness rather than supply the missing details.
